Mathematics Instructor

How would you like to teach a small classroom full of your very best students? AoPS Academy is always looking for experienced and energetic instructors to teach high-performing students in our after-school environment. Every year the Art of Problem Solving book series and website trains the very best math students from around the world, including our own United States International Math Olympiad team. AoPS Academy brings this expertise to the classroom, where you will be working with top students and using a curriculum designed specifically for their needs. Teaching with us allows you to:

  • Teach in dynamic, participation-oriented classes that focus on inquiry and problem-solving, not rote memorization and repetition.
  • Work in small classes with top performing elementary, middle, and high school students who are passionate about math and motivated to succeed.
  • Spend your time teaching, not grading or dealing with administrative issues.
  • Work in a flexible, family-friendly company with a strong sense of mission.
  • Teach as few or as many classes as you wish. Academic year classes meet once per week and summer classes meet every weekday for two weeks

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a solid background in mathematics.
  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM field is required. A master's degree or higher in a STEM field is preferred.
  • Teaching experience, particularly experience working with high-performing, advanced students, is a big plus.

Language Arts Instructor

Physics Instructor

  • The ability to facilitate regular hands-on activities and enforce labratory safety rules is required. Experience teaching in a hands-on environment is preferred.

Front Desk Receptionist

AoPS Academy is looking to hire a part-time front desk receptionist. In this position, you will interact with students and families, answer phone calls, create and maintain welcome packets, and act as a friendly face when school is in session.

Requirements

The ideal applicant must be customer service focused, have strong communication skills, and will be able to be empathetic when dealing with students and families.

  • Community Outreach Support Staff

    AoPS Academy is in search of part-time outreach staff. In this position, you will be meeting our prospective families at area events to spread the word about our outstanding math and language arts enrichment classes. At these events, you'll share information with families, play games and solve puzzles with students, and represent AoPS Academy in the local community. Most of these events are on weeknights and weekends.

    Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation, be able to transport outreach materials to events, and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ideal applicants will have excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and will be empathetic when dealing with families and students. Strong roots in the local community preferred but not required.

  • Summer Teaching Assistant

    AoPS Academy is looking to hire teaching assistants for our summer courses. This is a great opportunity for young adults who want to work with motivated younger students, contribute to the AoPS Academy community, and earn some extra cash.

    Teaching assistants (TAs) are expected to:

    • Work with students individually or in small groups and provide feedback.
    • Help keep the class engaged and focused.
    • Collaborate with the instructor to create an excellent experience for all students.

    Candidates must be 16 years old or older and have strong language arts or math content knowledge. Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum and experience working with children are big pluses.
